I wrote this last week. For those asking if I’ll write something on the Israel-Hamas war: I may write something soon, but let me think events through first. Hot takes always make me feel gross.

When you do get around to giving some careful consideration to the pharma / "medical countermeasures" part of the story, this stuff won't seem so big in comparison.

A couple of good starting places:

It's a very good analysis, but you left out the part concerning the "cure". Is it integrated into the plot or is the "cure" a separate episode that does not require an answer as to whether the virus was engineered or not?

I would suggest typing something up about more relevant topics that are not todo with the Israel Palli "current thing".

I have written this during the pandemic:

Covid unleashed a gusher of funding, status and prestige onto every virologist or epidemiologist on earth. Suddenly and violently. A bright future awaited the profession - hundreds of labs built everywhere, billion in funding, status, adoring fans, and the like. This is however predicated on zoonosis - it had to be a natural event

If lab leak became the prevailing belief, not only would these virologists undergo group guilt which we as a species are so good at, but the profession would be treated with the suspicion it deserves, and BSL-1/2/3/4 labs would become the most difficult things to build on earth, more regulated than nuclear weapons - as they should be. The true threat to civilization, something that can truly end the world, is not in the hands of nuclear armed states, but in the hands of men like Fauci and their test tubes.

The so called experts who we rely on to assess how the virus came to be have every incentive on earth to come to one answer and one answer only.

This is so clear and such an excellent explanation of the step by step process of the great crime that we have just lived through. Apocalyptic indeed. Thank you sir.

Thank you for this excellent summary. The last few paragraphs put words to much of the intellectual and emotional journey I've been on over the past three years - the covid event and its aftermath instigating a major re-examination of the fundamental underpinnings of modernity and the rule of managerial experts. It's been highly uncomfortable and disorienting, but that's ultimately OK, and even good, if it's in the service of truth. The journey has simultaneously helped lead me into a rediscovery of more ancient and solid metaphysical ground, and for this I'm deeply grateful.

I'm grateful for the clarity of your framing and analysis!

Yes, I think that's a good outline of events. This was all fairly clear throughout the middle and later part of the COVID chapter by following the money and power. It's as old as humanity. What isn't addressed is the effect of our aristocracy lying about the entire thing and then being shown to have lied. How do you deal with the masses that no longer believe anything they're told? People will use portions of the narrative in a transactional way for their own ends, but no longer believe. Is this the negative inflection point of the modern religion? I'm missing the 'so what?' I really don't know, but it interests me.

I'm going to reply to my own comment...I know...groan!

What happens to a society with an abrupt loss of Faith? I think it's fair to say that this group encompasses the technocratic, First World. The Second and Third world were busy staying fed and clothed and largely ignored the COVID era except as an additional obstacle to staying alive. Are there historical examples?

"...our much-lauded Science Boys were found to be busy performing experiments in pure hubris, stitching together monsters they couldn’t control in pursuit of money and prestige, or just because they could."

Or just because they could... The most galling and outrageous aspect of this episode (besides Science causing millions of early deaths) is that the relevant research is stupid and pointless. It is nothing more than make-work for biochemistry grads who didn't get hired onto FDA's pharmaceutical regulation division or whatever. But they still need money. And their idle hands have done some work. I try not to judge them too harshly though. Their job, naturally, is difficult, because most science has already been accomplished---primarily by the English.

Mary Shelley was an eccentric broad who grew up in early Victorian England, and was one of the first to perceive the hubris of modern Scientism. Everyone knows about her most famous work. And whereas Shelley's Dr. Frankenstein was possessed by a grand vision of conquering death, these folks working for the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases are just chasing elusive grant money. (Queue lowlife Italian mobster voice): "Hey, if it pays the mortgage to collect bat viruses and rearrange their DNA, I guess that's what I gotta do!"

If you imagined Fauci saying that, good. But no one is innocent here. Brits are no less immune to the corrupting spigot of American Science funding than the cynical, dwarven bureaucrats who maintain it. Far too few people are aware of the origins of EcoHealth Alliance (from Wikipedia):

"Founded under the name Wildlife Preservation Trust International in 1971 by British naturalist, author, and television personality, Gerald Durrell, it then became The Wildlife Trust in 1999. In the fall of 2010, the organization changed its name to EcoHealth Alliance. The rebrand reflected a change in the organization's focus, moving solely from a conservation nonprofit, which focused mainly on the captive breeding of endangered species, to an environmental health organization with its foundation in conservation."

In other words, a defunct British conservatory organization got bought out by American interests and was redirected from cataloguing obscure species of mammals to cataloguing bat viruses. And why? Just because they could.

NS.. I'm in general agreement here but one thing.. you wrote "then-top public health official " but he wasn't as far as I know, that would be the head of CDC, who doesn't seem to have been invited to these meetings. How did a head "sender out of research bucks" usurp the role of CDC when the conflict of interest was plain to see? Hoping some journalists will look into this story. Public health is too important to tolerate COI. IMHO.

Good piece, good issue. But a little vague.

First of all, Fauci was doing his job. Which is not as described to the American People or the Chief Executive. Several reports have noted that the CIA was all over this operation and of course they too answer to higher masters. So what IS someone like Fauci's job, and who does he answer to? Without explaining that, we are still in the dark. (Not blaming you, just sayin')

Further, you didn't explore the How and Why of the US National Health administration being involved with bio-warfare and only mentioned gain-of-function research as a way to prevent pandemics, not start them. Moreover, how come the US and Chinese are such bosom buddies that they work on such stuff together? Maybe avoiding having to explain that is why the whole business had to be covered up. No matter the explanation, something is very much not right with the picture.

Next: even assuming that the internationally coordinated research was for benign purposes and the leak was accidental (and pure coincidence that this happened only a couple of months after a World Health drill about exactly that sort of thing happening), it doesn't address the extraordinary degree of lockstep response, namely:

- prescribing known bad practices such as ventilators for respiratory infection

- quarantining the healthy

- known wrong drugs like remdesivir which caused more deaths than they prevented

- demonizing hydroxychoroquine early on recommended by that French Doctor billed as Europe's Senior Epidemiologist who tested his protocol on 1,000 patients in March (?) 2020; then later demonizing ivermectin which was even better

- pushing insufficiently tested new technology which, surprise surprise, they knew had issues and which they have since refused to acknowledge just how many issues. They are STILL pushing them.

To me the clear evidence of cooperation between Chinese, Canadian and American scientists on the Science combined with the coordinated covering up of such cooperation, along with shared responsibility for the pandemic (if that is what it was), and the internationally coordinated lockdown and other responses is something worth investigating deeply.

I find all explanations which offer managerial culture stupidity as the over-riding problem unconvincing. At least not until the extensive collusion between Pfizer, the CIA and national health administrations in both the US, UK and China is fully and transparently explained.

Your take on the matter is convincing. However, it still doesn't explain why The System (for lack of a less stupid-sounding word) was so hell bent on measures like masks, lockdowns and vaccines. It all just fits too neatly, in my opinion, into what in fact became an agenda for taking a big leap in the direction of establishing a digitalized, authoritarian global regime. What are your reasons for believing the whole thing wasn't planned all along, even from the point Fauci invested such large sums in this specific GOF project?

Big plans require compartmentalization and careful roll-out. Plausible deniability and all that.

Although it is impossible to document it seems likely that the Intelligence and military communities had a hand in the creation of Covid. The folly of chasing a cure for a problem that does not exist has, at its root, a desire to create a weapon. A case of flying too close to the sun.

Great article - as always. I think Robert Gardner perhaps does not understand the point of your writing - which it seems to me is your attempt to articulate for your own benefit as much as for the benefit of your readers what is happening; what just happened and perhaps looking toward where we are going.

I encourage Mr Gardner to read the Matt Taibbi’s article in Racket where the entire conversation thread among these ‘scientists’ is disclosed (its linked in this article).

And Sharon F - to see how Fauci got where he got read Robert Kennedy’s book The Real Anthony Fauci’. Its a page turner and a stomach turner but informative. I think Rand Paul’s book will also be an interesting read.

The question remains - was Fauci a stooge for elite, military and intelligence operations higher up the food chain and is he as evil as he seems to be.

I’m here on a free trial testing the waters. I can’t see light on this one. Evidence indicates natural origin which debunks all of this. Has NS Lyons changed his opinion on this one?

“Put simply, if SARS-CoV-2 came about by frequent recombination through contact with common virus-carrying animals in the wild, we would expect it to display a mix of genome segments shared between it and several of their close cousins. However, if SARS-CoV-2 came about through manipulation in a lab, such as through gain-of-function research, we would expect a close match to one and only one “initial” strain, with the remainder of the genome failing to match any other wild strains. The discovery that SARS-CoV-2 does indeed have what biologists call a mosaic genome makes it abundantly clear that it could not have arisen through laboratory manipulation of an initial, single strain, through gain-of-function research or otherwise.”

While I agree completely with your description of gain-of-function research and the cover-up, I have to disagree with your conclusion that the problem is faith in technology. The benefits of rational evidence based technology are immense. That is why more people live today at higher standards of living than ever before. The problem is that there is extreme pressure to abandon evidence and reason when they conflict with some powerful set of interests. Sadly our current elite have successfully achieved this in key areas. (1) Pursuing gain of function research is one example. (2) Regulating nuclear power our of existence in the west in the previous century is another. (3) This drove climate change which resulted in these elites trying to replace fossil fuels with renewable energy. (4) Common-enemy based identity politics such as anti-racism is a 4th. (5) Medicalising treatment of gender dysphoria in children is a 5th.

All of these policies are a consequence of a loss of viewpoint diversity among our elites, including scientists, which is a consequence of brainwashing at Universities.

The solution is a radical overall of Universities, focusing on fostering viewpoint diversities.
