Beyond superb, Sir! Hard to pick out one, but...

I'd argue that real poetry always sort of happens and is beyond the writer's control. Hope it sort of happens again!

Remember what Adams said about who this government is for (and I’m no fan of Adams but he is poignant in that statement). I think it reveals the unexpected and currently shifting dividing line between the two political factions. One side will be defined by the tacit and presumed freedoms you’ve written here, and I’m not so sure I can succinctly sum up what the other side is about. The one side will be republican citizens capable of self-governance and their delegates/representatives. The other will be subjects to Our Democracy incapable of self-governance and in service to their masters. The fundamental difference will be between who will be citizens and who will be subjects. I hope there’s enough blood and thunder in the South and fire and brimstone in the North to preserve our citizenship— the same blood and thunder and fire and brimstone which threw George and his parliament off this continent.

I feel your longing. Many others feel it too, without the capacity to articulate. It is important to speak about primary, first principles, especially when our supposed betters are attempting to make us forget.
